DIY Project #2: Kitchen

Realized haven't posted/blogged about the remodel of our house since the roof so here is what is currently going on in the Jacobsen home and pictures of the process. :)

Kitchen before we finished closing on our house this past spring:

Standing in the kitchen looking into the future "mudroom"

dated white cabinets, linoleum floors, laminate countertops

In kitchen facing living area: sad electric stove

View of kitchen from family room

During chaotic 4 week renovation of house before suitable to move in:

This was taken after the new roof had been put on and Cory began working on the interior-wall blocking kitchen from family room now gone.

After everything was cleaned up. Old carpets left on over the original wood floors to protect them during drywall and painting.

After lighting and painting

Kitchen after we moved in and had been this way for past 4 months:

Original wood floors in living area refinished and stained. See the 2 fridges? this was taken before the old appliances were posted and sold on KSL. The random floating light fixture is where a future pennisula will be, we had it up just to have more lighting.

Current kitchen status:

What kitchen?! No cabinets or counters, sink being supported by a little beam but is still functioning (for a few more days). Linoleum has been torn up, floor replaced and raised where needed and currently sporting cement board. House is an "organized" mess right now with kitchen tools and pantry supplies stored in linen closests, shelves next to fireplace, and basement. Up next is tile, more electrical work, new gas line to house dualfuel range (replacing electric), shaft/flume for oven hood, new cabinets/countertops/fixtures! All this expected to be done this week, YIPEE! Tune in for after pictures. :)

I am impressed w/all the work that is being done to improve your home! Especially when you were pregnant and now when you have a second child! Hopefully all the work will be worth it in the end! So far, it looks great!
