There are a lot of festivities that go on in Centerville for the Fourth of July and we love it because our house is at the center of everything. First there is the 5K Freedom Run and breakfast at Founders Park followed by the parade that goes directly infront of our house. Then in the evening there is a children's parade that ends at Founders Park where they have live music and booths with food and games to enjoy before the firework display. This year one of friends talked me into running the 5k the night before and i hadn't ran in months so i think my time of 27 mins (something seconds can't remember but it was around 38-40secs) was respectable. After i finished the run i ran home to meet up with Cory and the kiddies and then we headed back to the park for breakfast before the parade. I didn't get pictures of the parade this year but there were a lot of fun floats and the kids got lots of candy. After the parade we had a bbq with some of our neighborhood friends and then the kids decorated their bikes/wagon for the childrens parade. Last year we headed over to the park for the firework show but we decided to chill on our front porch with our family this year. It was a great holiday weekend for us and if anyone ever wants to come and spend the 4th in Centerville with us know our door is always open!
Miss Sophie and G after finishing decorating their "floats"
Mr. JensSophie getting her "Miss America" on- she started blowing kisses to the crowd on her own lol! Daddy is sure going to have his hands full when she's older.
Mr. C one of Sophie's friends
M and A more of Sophie's friends
Miss G again
Mr. Jens riding in style
Popsicles were waiting for all the kids at the finish. Miss Sophie and her friend C enjoying their refreshments. C was being the funny man but I don't think Sophie thought he was very funny at the moment. :)
Playing at the park afterwards
For our bbq we had hamburgers and hot dogs, toasted marshmallow milkshakes, chips, watermelon, and this little number for dessert
Doing sparklers on our front lawn while waiting for the Firework show to begin
Mamama, Papapa, Tio Chris, and Nicole were in the area for one of Chris's bmx races so they came over that night and watched the fireworks with us. :)
The next day Sophie crashed on our sofa :)
